• Lesson 1. Introduction to Five-Card Omaha

  To make a poker hand in PLO5, you must use exactly two of your hole cards and exactly three community cards — no more, no less.

• Lesson 2. Hand Rankings and Hand Strength

  Hand rankings in PLO5 are identical to Hold'em, but because players have more cards in hand, the nuts are formed more frequently — second-best hands lose more often.

• Lesson 4. The Variety of Starting Hands and Equity

  In PLO5 there is no ready-made starting hand chart. Instead of memorizing lists, you need to understand the principles of hand evaluation and equity — the share of the pot a hand will win on average over many repetitions.

• Lesson 5. Pot-Limit and No-Limit

  Pot-limit caps the maximum bet at the size of the current pot — this makes the game more strategic and position-dependent. PLO5 is a pot-limit game by default (PLO = Pot-Limit Omaha).

  Maximum pot-limit raise = call + pot size after the call. Memorize this formula — it works in any situation at the table.

  A wrap draw is a straight draw with a very large number of outs (11–17+). It occurs when several ranks on the turn complete a straight through different pairs of your hole cards. The non-negotiable rule in PLO5: exactly 2 hole cards + exactly 3 board cards.

  A nut flush draw (with the ace) is an aggressive asset. A non-nut flush draw is a potential trap. This distinction drives the entire flush draw strategy in PLO5.

  Equity is your mathematical share of the pot (chance to win + chance to split). Decisions should be based on comparing your equity to the cost of entering — not on the intuitive feeling of 'do I look strong?'

• Lesson 12. Counting Outs

  An out in PLO5 is only a card that, when it arrives, lets you build the required combination using exactly 2 cards from your hand + 3 from the board. Dirty, overlapping, and blocked outs must be filtered before making a decision.

  In PLO5 we value nut-potential, double-suitedness, and connectedness. Avoid domination: low flushes without the ace and low-end straights are traps — they look nice but regularly lose to the nuts.

  Aggression builds pots with strong hands and high equity. Pot control protects from losses with vulnerable hands. The main question before every action: 'Do I want to play a big pot here?'

• Lesson 15. 3-Bet and 4-Bet in PLO5

  A 3-bet is a tool with a specific goal: value, isolation, or building initiative. A 4-bet is almost always a super-premium story and full pot commitment. Position and nut-potential determine which hands fit each.

• Lesson 16. Multiway Pots and Strategy

  A multiway pot automatically demands a nut-focused approach. Not the nuts — do not invest (with rare exceptions). Learn to fold decent but beatablehands when many players want the same pot.

• Lesson 17. Playing Against Short Stacks

  Against a short stack (less than 20BB) tighten your range and prepare for an all-in already on the flop or turn. Look for hands with good equity in all-in spots and do not put big money in with marginal hands.

• Lesson 18. Nuts vs Second Nuts

  The second nuts is a strong hand, but in large pots without blockers and redraws it often becomes a trap. Knowing when to fold 'almost the nuts' is the mark of a strong player.

• Lesson 19. Redraws and Freerolling

  A redraw is a backup path to improve if you get outdrawn. Freerolling is a situation where you split in the worst case but win everything in the best case. Look for both concepts in every hand.

  Pot control is not passive play. It is the ability to make the pot match the strength and vulnerability of your hand. The more vulnerable your hand — the smaller the pot you need.

  In PLO5 the foundation of aggression is the semi-bluff with a strong draw and blockers. Reserve pure bluffs for rare heads-up spots with a dry board and a clear folding range from the opponent.

  In PLO5 think not 'I have a set/two pair', but 'how nutty is this, how dangerous is the board, do I have blockers and redraws, and is my plan ready for the turn and river'.

  Tilt is the main enemy of long-term results in PLO5. You do not have to win every session. You have to maintain decision quality. Judge yourself not by the final sum but by how correct your decisions were.

  In PLO5 almost every hand has some potential — but winners are not those who 'see the flop often', but those who enter with hands that make the nuts, have redraws, and play well on later streets. What matters is not current strength, but hand structure.

Five cards create an illusion of strength, but winners are those who enter with hands that make the nuts, have redraws, and realize well in position. The better your preflop, the easier the postflop and the fewer costly mistakes on turn and river.

  Postflop in PLO5 is where you either take the pot or give away your stack. 'Connecting with something' barely means 'I am ahead': everyone has 5 cards, draws are massive, nuts change fast. Postflop is not about emotions but about a plan: nuts, redraws, and correct decisions street by street.

  In a multiway pot the nuts and hands that can become the nuts win. Everything else very quickly becomes an expensive trap. The more players — the lower the value of 'nice-looking but non-nut' hands.
